FINALLY - MAGGI'S GUIDE TO PROM SEASON!..as requested!
Hi my gorgeous little promettes, I have been promising to publish this for ages, so finally, here it is...the no frills guide to surviving prom season! PART 1 - Un edited and unapologetic!
1. KEEP IT REAL - This is going to be an amazing night and it's your chance to shine, but, remember this, it is the first big night of many to come. Be yourself, wear something which makes YOU feel great and is COMFORTABLE! (note: comfortable does not mean frumpy! I have comfortable fishtail dresses!)
2. WHO CARES ABOUT EVERYONE ELSE - Another common question we have is what is everyone else wearing....who cares about the crowd, don't be a sheep, if you follow rule one, you are going to have an amazing night. We had the most amazing polka dot bl/wh/red, yes it was spotty! and so many girls loved it on, but were terrified to wear it, because of what others may think... on the flip side, the dress holds the record for the most photographed, belle of the ball and also was in the West Australian top three dresses of the year (Kelly M, I remember how fab you looked!) . Everyone who took the risk loved the dress on the night and had an amazing time.
On the flip side, I always have a couple of clients coming back once a month wishing they had worn the more unusual gowns.
3. LESS IS MORE - Now this is advice coming from the crazy lady who is super excited about this season which is all about pooffff, the bling and sequins are back, oh yes they are! However, keep accessories, hair and make up really simple. We swear by the Chanel rule of thumb look in the mirror and before you leave take something off. It is so easy to overdress an evening wear outfit.
4. TIES MATCH or NOT TO MATCH - hhmmm, that is the question. The reality is there is no right or wrong. Sometimes trying to find a yellow and pink tie to match your gorgeous dress can leave the guys looking and feeling alittle overdone. Fellas, you can never go wrong with a slick black suit, white shirt (clean!!!) and black, grey or navy tie. It looks the bomb.
5. ACCESSORIES & COLOURS - Ladies, ladies, ladies, you don't need to have matching shoes, bags, etc to suit your dress. Often contrast works far better and makes the whole ensemble more visually effective. Accessories can be used to draw or deflect attention depending upon how you best use them. Typically think about the black dress. Sure black shoes will match but do they bring anything extra to the outfit, unless they are extraordinary, then nope! However, add alittle bit of colour, safety silver or even a hot purple, add a matching silver or purple bag, then gals, we've goot something foxy happening here.
...well, there's part 1, love it or hate, there it is...part 2, tans, tantrums and tiaras to follow soon!
